Try doing that with a grey liner – we’re not going too loud but darks that are soft and smokey. You mustn’t forget that the dark eyes compliment eyebrows, and big eyeborws are very this season, so don’t pluck them tiny – be proud!

To create the flawless skin, take a look at the preparation page, and look at the video tutorial to see me doing the step by step instructions.

Sand, Sea & Ice Cream

This is the perfect look for simply lazing on the beach and looking good. If your the surfer type, remember makeup washes off! But for those who would rather stay comfortable sun bathing then listen up. I think this look really works for those with tanned or black skin, but if you’re pale, try it anyway!

You will need:

  • BRIGHT blue eyeshadow
  • Blue eyeliner, if possible
  • Golden eyeshadow
  • Brown eyeshadow
  • Mascara
  • Foundation/concealer
  • Glossy lip blam

1. Mix the blue eyeshadow to a paste on the back of your hand. Starting half way along your eyelid, pull your eyelid taught and draw a line to the edge of your eye.

2. If it looks a bit faint, do it again to make it fuller and brighter. You want it vivid!

3. Dust you eye lid with your gold, going up to not the eyebrow, but your brow bone.

4. Dust the gold close underneath your eye, and around it.

5. Now grab your brown and dust that in the crease of your eye lid. It just highlights the gold a bit, drawing a bit more attention to it.

6. Redo the blue bit incase any gold has covered it. A bright blue eyeliner would do the trick but if you don’t have one of those just use the blue paste again.

7. Apply your mascara. Brown or black would both do, depending on your colouring. Don’t apply it too fully.

8. Now. The eyes are done, but stand back and the look doesn’t look totally complete. Nude lips!  Get some of your  foundation or concealer that matches your skin tone and dab verryyy sparingly on your lips.

9. To finish off, get yourself some shiny lip blam and using your finger, dab that on top. Don’t use one of those lip gloss sticks that come with lip glosses, because you’ll get all foundation on it.

Now lay back and impress!

Make like a firework and turns heads, I’m going to! This design is just in time for bonfire night, so get practicing and make a difference this november!Bonfire night (Guy Fawlkes night) is a British national celebration, so don’t be miffed if you come from somewhere else. Next time you have a national celebration with fireworks or just go to any old firework display, then is the time to do it! I wouldn’t personally wear this funky look everyday, but if thats you, then go for it!

You will need:

  • Bright/ Lime green (think Kaitie’s font colour)
  • Bright pink, see what you have.
  • Shimmery White
  • Black eyeliner
  • Black mascara

1. Begin with applying thick eyeliner round you eyes, especially on the top eyelid. Don’t go over the top with it though, just make sure its reasonably thick. (Soot and the night sky :) )

2. Mix Your pink to a paste with water (it is easier to control when a paste) and, starting about a third of the eye along from the inner corner, paint your eye lid with the pink up to the brow. If you are confused, scroll down to see a picture  and it might help you.

3. Now paint the middle third of your eye with the bright green using an eyeshadow paste like above. Make sure you still leave about the same amount of space for the white as you have used for the green and the pink  (There should be three thirds).

4. Now paint the remaining third with the white, again going up to the brow, and bring it down the the corner of the eye. Don’t go blending it up the nose!

5. If you have covered any of your eyeliner, reline them. 6. Apply heavy mascara. See the mascara page for how.

FAQs

Have a makeup problem? Or just don’t know where to start? Check out our frequently asked questions.

Q. I don’t have perfect skin, but when I use foundation and concealer to cover it up, my skin looks all flaky. What can I do?

A.Not to worry, my skin does that too. When putting on foundation in the morning, mix it with a little bit of moisturiser too. This way your skin will be moisturised at the same time and lots of flakes shouldnt appear. Dust your face over afterwards aswell, so there isnt any risk of the-greasy-look!

Q. When I apply mascara, I always have a build up of blobs or my eyelashes stick together. If I try and get the blobs out, I just make a mess of the mascara. Help!

A. It sometimes depends of what mascara you are using when this happens, but don’t worry there are ways round it. While your mascara is still fresh and wet, seperate the lashes with an eyelash seperater or if you don’t have one of those, grab and old dry mascara brush and simply sweep through the lashes like applying mascara. It should remove and blobs and seperate clumps of eyelashes.

Q. How do I know which foundation to buy?

A. When you go into a shop, test the foundations first. Don’t do it on the back of your hand though, as you won’t have a completely different skin tone on your hand to your face but it could vary slightly. Test it on your jaw bone instead, despite the lady at the counter staring at you.

Q. Help! I think eyelash curlers make your eyes look great, but they themselves look like a torture instrument. I’m scared of them!!!

A. Yes, yes. This has all happened before. The key is, don’t worry and practice. Get your eyelashes in between them and squeeze them tight for around 30 seconds. Don’t worry about blinking, somehow your eye can just blink despite the curlers in your face. Eyes naturally pull away when something gets that close to them, but train them not to and it’ll be easy!

Q. I’ve seen on your videos that you use powder on your eyelid before you put anything on. Why is this and how do I make sure it’s the right shade?

A. Well, your skin produces natural oils throughout the day; if you dont want your eyeshadow to slip, then you need something to set the grease, such as powder. NEVER confuse this with using foundation up there, a.) you’ll go orange and b.) IT JUST WONT HELP! As for the second part of your question, just test colours out. If something works on your face, then it’s pretty certain that it will work on your eyelid. Problem Solved!

Q. I can never get my lipstick to look smooth and matte because my lips are so dry. What should I do??

A. Never fear! We all have our dry lip days, and air conditioning doesn’t help at all. The best thing to do when you need to get rid of flaky skin in a hurry is to use an old toothbrush and scrub your lips gently for around 3-5 mins, until the skin has been rubbed off. Then, soak a sponge in warm water and press it against your lips for a couple of minutes. I like to follow this up by using an exfoliating scrub afterwards, being careful to not get any in my mouth! Rub a bit in, then rub it off. Then apply a good moisturiser or lipbalm. To keep your lips in good condition, it is best to keep a small pot of lip butter or balm with you so you can apply it every now and again. I like Lush lip balms, or The Body Shop’s passionfruit lip butter. It depends what mood I’m in!!

          My Keira My Version

You may have seen the new Coco Mademoiselle advert, starring the lovely Keira Knightley. We think it’s much better than the Nicole Chanel advert, but what do you think? Leave a comment, but anyway, do you want to achieve that look?

Well, you will need:

Powder                        Volumising mascara

Kohl Eyeliner             Eyelash Curlers

Dark Grey shadow    A spongey eyeshadow thing

1. Cover your eyelids with powder. LOTS!

2. Now cover your eyelid with the grey. Put on quite a lot!

2. Line your top lashline. Make this line quite thick, and end it in a flick.

3. Line your waterline for that dramatic look.

4. Fill out your flick a bit, until it looks right on you.

5.  Now, blend with your eyeliner pencil over the lid. It’s a bit like shading with a pencil really!

6. Smudge over your eyelid with one of those cheap little eyeshadow things you get free in eyeshadows.

7. Curl your lashes, and give them a couple of good coats of a volumising mascara.

Lily Cole

Super model Lily Cole has amazing big eyes, and she draws attention to them by appying bold, bright eyeshadow to highlight them. If you also have the same colorings as her and want to achieve the Lily look, read on:

lilycole21.jpg

You will need:

  • Bold pinky-purple eyeshadow
  • Brown or grey khol eyeliner
  • Nude lipstick, or foundation + shiny lip balm
  • Mascara

1. Cover your eyelids fully with your purple, up to the crease. From then on, blend it with your skin.

2. Liner your eyes underneath with your brown or grey eyeliner.

3. Sweep on your mascara, but don’t go overboard.

4. Now, most of us don’t usually colou our cheeks purple everyday, and we don’t expect you all to have loads of bright purple blusher. So, using a fat blusher brush, apply some of your eyeshadow on your cheeks, sparing.

*Tip* To know where to apply blusher, smile and dust it on the balls of your cheeks, slightly leading up to the outer corner of your eye.

5. Apply your nude lipstick and your done! But if you don’t have any, get some foundation and dab on your lips sparingly, then adding a little bit of shiny lip balm on top. THEN your done :)

Eva has lovely blue eyes, and compliments them with toning shades of grey. She is also a bit fan of smudgey, smokey eyes, which are really in this season. So, here I’ll show you how to build that lovely look:

                                                                     evagreen.jpg

You will need:
- Concealer
- Foundation
- Powder
- Grey or silver eyeshadow
- Pencil eyeliner
- Eyeshadow sponge

1. Apply your base. For this look to be stunning to it’s full effect, you really need to have a pale and flawless base. (e.g. No red patches!) Follow my instructions on the Preparation page if you are unsure.
2. Apply powder all the way up to your eyebrows, over your lid. Also, apply a BIG smudge under your eye. This will stop smudging underneath the eye. You can remove this later.
3. Apply a coat of silver or grey shadow over lid. DO NOT take it above, or you will look like you’ve just been punched!!
4. Line your eyes with liquid eyeliner. Do not make this line too thick. Leave a couple of minutes to dry.
5. When you are sure that the liner is dry, go over this line and slightly beyond with your pencil liner. Then line the bottom below the lashes
6. With the eyeshadow sponge, smudge the pencil liner round until you have got as much smudge as you want. Make sure you smudge the bottom too.
7. Remove the powder beneath your eyes with a tissue.
8. Apply mascara, in moderation.
9. Dab a little concealer onto your finger. Smooth this under your brow line, (eg, where the bottom of your eyebrow is) and blend well. This will give the impression of more open eyes.
10. Stand back from the mirror. If all seems symmetrical, you’re done! Looking like the beautiful Miss Green in 10 steps!

Natural Beauty

I based this one on natural and skin tone based colors. I love it and I’m wearing it right now, actually! It is subtle yet glamourous – heres how to do it:

1. Using a dark brown/bronzy colour, mix it with a little water and make a paste like a liquid liner on the back of your hand. With a thin, fine brush, draw a line with it close to the roots of your lashes – no gaps between lashes and liner, guys!!! If you want, carry the line up slightly at the edges to create a slight feminie flick!

2. When that is done, grab a pale pink eyeshadow and cover your eye lid to the edges of your eye socket. I think if the pink has a nice bit of shimmer in it, that adds to the prettiness of the design.

3. Draw another line close to your bottom lashes but very slightly under with your liquid/eyeshadow paste on the back of your hand.

4. Brush a tiny bit of the brown/bronze (dry) underneath your eye too, and gently blend into your skin. If it is very dark, blend with a gold colour and then keep on blending into your skin tone.

Viola!

Barbie loves MAC

Yes, you saw it right. The no. 1 style icon for young girls has her own MAC makeup brand on sale for older girls. Though it’s difficult to get hold of in the UK, here is a tutorial showing you how to do it without the real Barbie Loves Mac Products. So, here goes:

Barbie Loves MAC

• Powder • Lime Green eyeshadow • Volumising mascara

• Foundation • A Frosty Green eyeshadow        • Clear Lipgloss

• Concealer • Bright pink lipstick • Hot pink eyeshadow

1 . Apply foundation and powder all over face as demonstrated in the preparation section. Make sure that they are a couple of shades lighter than your actual skin tone, as Barbie has a very pale complexion.

2. Blend in some liquid concealer on those red patches!

3. Over this, along your cheekbones, apply some blush. This will (hopefully) cancel out any red patches, rather than add to them!

4. With a large eyeshadow brush, heavily apply the pink along your top lashline. Then, blend this out with your finger. Keep adding to this until it gives the required effect.

5. Now, with a soft bristled and small brush, apply the green underneath your bottom lashes, and blend this out.

6. Then with the frosty green, apply it gently over the whole look.

7. Apply PLENTY of mascara. Make sure you apply it to the bottom lashes too! Then, while the mascara is still wet, brush your lashes through with an eyelash comb.

8. Apply your pink lipstick, and then the gloss. You may wish to line your lips with a lipliner to make sure the colour doesnt bleed.

This look wouldn’t be out of place in a forest! A bit of a LotR/Maid Marion look, this is great for eye definition natural style

Intensity: 3 Difficulty: 2

1.Yes, I know this is going against EVERYTHING we’ve said before, but line your eyes with liquid eyeliner first. Only line the top though, but add a little flick at the end.

2. Now, line your eyes again with a kohl pencil. Then draw another line taken slightly over the liquid line.

3. Over this, heavily apply a dark green . Then, with a finger, smudge it upwards.

4. Sweep a light dusting of shimmering silver eyeshadow over the whole thing, and reline your eyes with pencil if necessary.

*NOTE* For this look to take it’s full effect, it is essential that you have a flawless face! No skipping on the foundation & powder with this one ladies!
