Q. I don’t have perfect skin, but when I use foundation and concealer to cover it up, my skin looks all flaky. What can I do?
A.Not to worry, my skin does that too. When putting on foundation in the morning, mix it with a little bit of moisturiser too. This way your skin will be moisturised at the same time and lots of flakes shouldnt appear. Dust your face over afterwards aswell, so there isnt any risk of the-greasy-look!
Q. When I apply mascara, I always have a build up of blobs or my eyelashes stick together. If I try and get the blobs out, I just make a mess of the mascara. Help!
A. It sometimes depends of what mascara you are using when this happens, but don’t worry there are ways round it. While your mascara is still fresh and wet, seperate the lashes with an eyelash seperater or if you don’t have one of those, grab and old dry mascara brush and simply sweep through the lashes like applying mascara. It should remove and blobs and seperate clumps of eyelashes.
Q. How do I know which foundation to buy?
A. When you go into a shop, test the foundations first. Don’t do it on the back of your hand though, as you won’t have a completely different skin tone on your hand to your face but it could vary slightly. Test it on your jaw bone instead, despite the lady at the counter staring at you.
Q. Help! I think eyelash curlers make your eyes look great, but they themselves look like a torture instrument. I’m scared of them!!!
A. Yes, yes. This has all happened before. The key is, don’t worry and practice. Get your eyelashes in between them and squeeze them tight for around 30 seconds. Don’t worry about blinking, somehow your eye can just blink despite the curlers in your face. Eyes naturally pull away when something gets that close to them, but train them not to and it’ll be easy!
Q. I’ve seen on your videos that you use powder on your eyelid before you put anything on. Why is this and how do I make sure it’s the right shade?
A. Well, your skin produces natural oils throughout the day; if you dont want your eyeshadow to slip, then you need something to set the grease, such as powder. NEVER confuse this with using foundation up there, a.) you’ll go orange and b.) IT JUST WONT HELP! As for the second part of your question, just test colours out. If something works on your face, then it’s pretty certain that it will work on your eyelid. Problem Solved!
Q. I can never get my lipstick to look smooth and matte because my lips are so dry. What should I do??
A. Never fear! We all have our dry lip days, and air conditioning doesn’t help at all. The best thing to do when you need to get rid of flaky skin in a hurry is to use an old toothbrush and scrub your lips gently for around 3-5 mins, until the skin has been rubbed off. Then, soak a sponge in warm water and press it against your lips for a couple of minutes. I like to follow this up by using an exfoliating scrub afterwards, being careful to not get any in my mouth! Rub a bit in, then rub it off. Then apply a good moisturiser or lipbalm. To keep your lips in good condition, it is best to keep a small pot of lip butter or balm with you so you can apply it every now and again. I like Lush lip balms, or The Body Shop’s passionfruit lip butter. It depends what mood I’m in!!
