Eyeshadow

So. This may seem like a really strange question to ask, but really. Have you ever learnt or tried to learn how to apply eyeshadow? I don’t think many people can honestly say yes to this, as it isn’t something you immediately decide you need to learn about. People have their own ways of applying it, but here are the basics, teaching you how to use, and most importantly, what to use.

Colours and Shades

This might seem a little silly, but colours are where most people go wrong with eyeshadow. They chose something that doesn’t blend with their hair tone, or their skin. So here’s a little guide to what is acceptable:

Red Heads

Natural: Copper, something quite bold.

Blues: pale blue, never go turquoise, it’s clashmania

Pinks: Under no circumstances EVER wear pink! Chances are you already have pale skin and rosy cheek, pink will make you look like you haven’t been sleeping

Greens: A really lovely shimmery emerald Lilacs:

Dark shades of purple

Brunettes

Natural: Rich cream, something light and neutral.

Blues: A deep turquoise will look beautiful, especially if you have gorgeous pale skin.

Pinks: Any pink looks good, but try to avoid tones that look like you’ve underslept.

Greens: Emerald, nothing lighter.

Lilacs: Anything that isn’t pale lilac!

 Blondes

Natural: Mocha brown.

Blues: Pale blue or a carefully picked shade of turquoise

Pinks: Pink is a bad idea for you, honestly.

Greens: Emerald. You can pull off lighter greens, too.

Lilacs: Especially avoid pale lilac. Generally purples and lilacs don’t really work for blondes

 Mousey Brown

Natural: Pale gold

Blues: Turquoisey blues, or a very pale greeny blue.

Pinks: Mid and pale pinks.

Greens: Khaki and pale greens

Lilacs: Darker purples, nothing too pale.

This is the most simple thing to do with eyeshadow, but it can look completely amazing. Here, I’ll tell you how to do it in only 5 steps! The picture has been done in two shades of blue.

  • You will need:
  • Powder
  • Midtone eyeshadow
  • Darker Eyeshadow
  • Eyeshadow brush
  • Eyeshadow sponge
  • 1. Sweep your pwowder over eye to get rid of any grease.

    2. Apply a midtone all over lid, from upper lash line to just above crease with eyeshadow sponge.

    3. Finish with the darker shade along the upper lash line and in the outer corners.

    4. Blend in well with a soft eyeshadow brush.

    5. Apply your powder or a highlighter under the bottom lashes and on the inner corners. (Around tear duct)
